I ran an old toothbrush gently over the tiny chips with dust build up, and
cleaned up everything else. I installed the penny fix. Runs like a champ.
Mobo on 2012-01-08 14:14:10 :
I fixed it by reflowing, RAM Chips and GPU!
BAM it boots up quick, and works great again!
SLAY3R_D3MON1 on 2011-12-14 02:03:33 :

SLAY3R_D3MON1 on 2011-12-14 02:01:57 :
ok guys i think its going to be what they said about one of the gpu or cpu not
making good contact with the chip. i had to press down on it a certain way and
then it worked . (I changed the thermal paste by the way before an it was still
doing same error till i tried pressing down on it.)
This error code is a hassle though good luck people ...
seve91 on 2011-07-18 10:23:56 :
can be caused also by a wrong gpu installed (xenon GPU on a falcon board)
z24zig on 2011-07-11 01:50:03 :
got this error after replacing the network chip on a box that would not read
that it had a network cable plugged in to it

here's how i fixed mine, first i applied pressure on the south bridge,
nothing happened, then i disconnected the drive and applied pressure again,
nothing happened, then disconnected power and applied pressure...voila, then put
the drive back on and BAM! again, then i replaced drives...nothing, then i
replaced the sata cable and so far so good.

I was pushing down on the different chips with my fingers while powering the
unit on. I found that my problem is with the hana chip. Gave it a little
pressure with my thumb and it fired right up. Anyone know of a good way to fix
it besides reflowing? I am kind of intimidated by that process especially since
I dont have any proper tools for that.

happened when i was doing a mod in a liteon 74850c. It was a short in a cutted
track. Now it's all ok.
domn8r81 on 2010-11-30 05:54:31 :
Any thoughts? She was working tip-top, no graphics issues and then at the 45
min. mark it was like...1 second of green bars and then auto cut-off. Is it
possible that the unit loosened-up with heat and I just need to tighten up the
heat sinik screws? Also, if I don't do anything can I expect depreciating
game-time? Sorry for the thesis, but I appreciate any feedback you guys can
offer.
domn8r81 on 2010-11-30 05:45:46 :
Older unit been using it for the last two years in Caribbean (can u say
humid?). Began locking-up and graphics issues culminating in 0102. While in 3rd
world performed a real hack job replacing the x-clamps (didn't have stuff
and made washers using abalone guitar picks). Got about 4 hours of play out of
it but then that was it.
Now back in the US, serious about the fix. Did a hybrid and the secondary
changed from 0102 to a 0020. Read more (great info on this site guys, keep it
up) and did a low-temp oven bake. Debated doing a flux flush and oven reflow or
heat gun but decided to put her back 2-gether and giver a go. Got 45 min. and
then 2rod shutdown.
She rebooted fine after a little rest but thinking Flux and reflow? thx!

This error also comes when there is a short on dvd board like a bad trace
soldering on LiteOn drive. I saw 0021 from a damaged LiteON PCB from screw
over-tightening while the PCB was misaligned.
halo3 on 2010-11-10 03:37:43 :
Can also just be some dust buildup in your 360, just blow it out and clean it.
I've had this in some cases, so it's not an oddity.

So first do the xClapmFix and if it still doesn't work - on the tutorial i
saw you had to put 2 washes on each bolt on the upper side of the motherboard,
so if yours is the same remove 1 from each bolt only from the ones that hold the
GPU cooler thingy and screw it real tight ( sorry for my bad english - i'm
bulgarian after all :D:D )
Wilhelm on 2010-06-30 03:28:50 :
If it is a natural 0020 it is tin whiskers in most cases thats why
overheating(DONT DO THAT) or reflowing the solder balls fixes it.
The tin whiskers are just ultrathin antennas so when they get hot the top parts
break off or if they actually reflow they will be sucked up by the solder..
NickdogV on 2010-06-09 06:11:50 :
I do not believe this 0020 Error code is a bridged solder joint because I repair
these all the time. Usually a bridged solder joint involves luck to get
repaired using a reflow station instead of using reballing equipment. 0020 is
most likely caused by a cold solderjoint underneath the GPU that can be repaired
with a heatgun/griddle.

I successfully relieved a twentied console last week. Initially I found I could
get it to boot with additional pressure on the GOU heatsink but only toward the
CPU heatsink. I did the xclamp mod on GPU side only and tightened the hell out
of the GPU heatsink, like as hard as I could with my hands alone, and voila! It
has worked like a charm ever since.
hargabyte on 2010-04-24 09:23:21 :
I got this error after doing a reflow for a 0102 error. has hybrid xclamp on it.
I loosened the screws a little and it works fine now. I think it was just a
short caused by the heatsink
Lythius on 2010-02-12 20:28:48 :
I have resolve this Problem ( 0020 ) semply replace the IC regulator IC Q2G1 (
near Eject switch ) becasue is "open and loss". Try It! Work!!! (
sorry for my Bad English I'am Italian ) ;)
bigart666 on 2010-02-11 03:16:48 :
i fixed one today 0020 flush chips with alcohol griddle underneath heatgun low
380(f) 3 minutes then high 480(f) 500(f) 2 minutes let cool hybrid bam works
Griff on 2010-02-01 08:48:21 :
